NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The Carleton College women's track & field team posted 16 top-five results as the Knights competed at the 11-team Manitou Classic hosted by St. Olaf College.
 
"The key to having strong performances today was a positive mindset," said Carleton had coach Donna Ricks. "It was fun to see how our athletes accepted the challenge (of running in the rain) and persevered in adverse conditions. Overall solid performances throughout the team."
 
Charlotte Kusch and Amelia Campbell finished 1-2 in the 800-meter run. Kusch crossed the line in a personal-best 2:19.85. Campbell covered the distance in 2:21.17 and was also the runner up in the 1500-meter run, where she posted a time of 4:42.40.
 
Aliya Larsen led from the start and won the 5000-meter run. The Knights actually finished 1-2-3-4 in the 16-racer event, as twin sisters Nina Peterson (second at 18:05.44) and Nicole Peterson (third at 18:07.58) edged teammate Louise Ruzanic (fourth at 18:14.60) for spots on the podium.
 
Sierra Cheniavsky took second place in the 3000-meter run with her outdoor personal-best time of 11:11.08. Anna Blaich placed third in a personal-best 11:41.22.
 
Parker Collins was third in the triple jump with a measurement of 9.67 meters.
 
Ava Brosam took fourth in the pole vault after clearing 3.05 meters.
 
Alice Islam was fifth in the 100-meter dash with a personal-best time of 13.08.
 
Jilian Muglia took fifth in the 100-meter hurdles with a personal-best time of 18.35. She also posted PRs in the 200-meter dash (27.75) and the javelin (20.10 meters)
 
Willa Bishop made her outdoor season debut and finished fifth in the javelin with a distance of 30.21 meters. She also established personal bests in the discus (32.85 meters) and 200-emter dash (28.60).
 
Carleton placed third in both relay events. In the 4x100-meter race, Islam, Muglia, Bianca Lott, and Caroline Kelleher finished in 50.76. The Knights were also third in the 4x400-meter relay with Genevieve Agati, Sydney Mielcarski, Ellen Stumbo, and Maddie Reckmeyer finishing at 4:31.18.
