LA CROSSE, Wis. – Carleton College senior
Hannah Preisser capped her collegiate career with her fifth All-America Award after finishing 14th in the 10,000-meter run at the 2026 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
The top-eight finishers are First Team All-Americans, while spots 9-16 take home Second Team All-America recognition.
Preisser ran a consistent race, coming through each lap somewhere between 12th and 16th place. She improved upon her previous personal best by more than 11 seconds, crossing the finish line at 35:19.40 to move into third place in team history (see chart below).
"Hannah ran a gritty race and fought hard to achieve this personal best," said Carleton head coach Donna Ricks. "The distance runners competing on the national stage these days are truly phenomenal. It was important for Hannah to stay with the plan of running 85 seconds per lap and not get carried out too fast in order to have a strong finish. Hannah did a tremendous job implementing that race structure, and it certainly was helpful to see a familiar MIAC face (Gustavus senior Molly Liston, who finished 15th) to race alongside."
This was Preisser's ninth career time racing at the NCAA Championships in any sport (see chart below) and the third time competing in the 10,000-meter run at Nationals.
The 22-runner field saw 10 racers—including Preisser—establish new personal best. Among that group was Elle Marsyla of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, who set a new NCAA D-III Championships record with her winning time of 33:38.71.
"It is difficult to express all that Hannah has brought to the Carleton Woman's Cross Country and Track & field programs," said Ricks. "For four years, she has worked alongside her teammates and has demonstrated that work ethic and dedication both in and out of season is the key to success. In the end, this has led this strong female athlete to an illustrious career, setting an example for current and future Carleton athletes to strive towards. Hannah is a champion, on the track and in life. She is genuinely kind and caring; she is not boastful. Being a part of a team is what Hannah values most."
