Knights take comfortable win over Luther in road dual

DECORAH, Iowa — The Carleton College men's swimming and diving team went on the road to earn a 182-117 victory over Luther College on Saturday afternoon, powered by clutch relay wins and standout performances across multiple events.

The Knights set the tone early with a win in the 200-yard medley relay, as the quartet of senior Nicholas Chang, first-year Luke Schmitzer, junior Warren Kozak, and first-year Neil Tollefson touched first in 1:38.41. Carleton later clinched the meet with a strong showing in the 200 freestyle relay — Tollefson, junior Noah Lee, first-year Dawson Lee, and junior John Rosseel combined for a first-place finish in 1:29.24 to seal the team victory.

The Knights made the difference by taking the top three spots in the 100 breaststroke and the 1,000-yard freestyle.  In the 100 breast, Junior Alex Lee won the event in 1:01.57.  Schmitzer (1:01.88) and fellow first-year Cam Newton (1:03.97) came in second and third, respectively to collect 16 total points in the event.  Junior Matthew Krogman won the 1,000 free in 10:25.24, followed by first-year Carson Rotter (10:40.18) and senior Will Clausman (10:48.48).

In all, the Carleton men took the top two sports or more in an event on four occasions.  Joining the 100 breast and the 1,000 free were the 200 medley relay and the 200 butterfly, where juniors Jackson Rankin (2:01.39) and Aiden Johnson (2:01.44) finished 1-2 for the Knights.

On the diving boards, senior Hans Anderson dominated both events, winning the 1-meter with a final score of 262.20 and taking the 3-meter with a total of 277.80.

Carleton showed strong team depth, earning multiple top-three finishes throughout the meet to hold off the Norse.
