INDIANAPOLIS – Carleton College senior Hans Anderson wrapped up his collegiate career with an 18th-place finish in the 1-meter diving competition at the 2026 NCAA Division III Championships.
 
Anderson totaled 420.75 points over his 11 dives on Friday.
 
He got off to a great start as his first dive of the day—401B (Inward Dive Pike)—was scored at either 7.5 or 8.0 by all seven judges. Anderson's 7.7 average was the second-highest of any of the 24 divers in the opening round.
 
He slipped to 18th after the second round but moved steadily up the leaderboard over the next five rounds, climbing as high as 11th after scoring 49.00 points on his 404C (Inward 2 Somersault Tuck) in Round 7.
 
Anderson was still in 14th place after tallying 44.40 points for his 303B (Reverse 1 1/2 Somersault Pike) in Round 9 but dropped four spots in the rankings despite collecting 40.30 points and 36.40 points on his final two dives.
 
The top eight divers from the prelims advanced to the evening's championship final and will be awarded All-America First Team recognition. Spots 9-16 during the prelims progress to the consolation final and will be All-America Second Team.
 
Anderson, who was 22nd in the 3-meter competition on Wednesday, concluded his career as a two-time NCAA Championships qualifier, including 12th-place finishes on both boards in 2025 to earn a pair of Second Team All-America awards.
