Andy Clark took over the helm of the Carleton men's and women's swimming and diving programs before the 1993-94 season. He led the women's team to the 2000, 2001, and 2009 MIAC titles. On the men's side, he guided the Knights to 20 top-four finishes over the last 22 trips to the conference meet highlighted by a second-place showing at the 2024 MIAC Championships. That was Carleton's best team finish since re-joining the MIAC in 1983. In addition, the Carleton women placed in the top 10 at the 2002, 2003 and 2005 NCAA Division III Championships.

His athletes at Carleton have won 10 national titles and earned All-America recognition 68 times with another 102 receiving All-America Honorable Mention. Additionally, Each of his squads have been awarded academic team honors by the College Swim Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) on both the men's and women's side.

Clark has over 30 years of coaching experience at the USS and collegiate levels. From 1988-90, Clark coached the men's and women's swim teams at Whitman College (Wash.). After two successful seasons at Whitman, Clark pursued graduate work at the University of Oregon, where he continued to coach and teach swimming. In 1992, Clark worked as an assistant coach with the Stanford University men's swim team under the tutelage of Skip Kinney. Clark was involved with the training and coaching of several elite athletes including 1992 Barcelona Olympians Joe Hudepohl, Jeff Rouse and Pablo Morales. Following Stanford's 1993 NCAA Division I championship season, Clark accepted the head coaching position at Carleton. Clark returned to California for brief sabbaticals after the 1999-2000 and 2006-2007 seasons, coaching Stanford swimmers as they trained in Palo Alto, Calif., and Colorado Springs, Colo., in preparation for the Olympic Trials. He is a graduate of Whitman College (B.A., geology, 1986) and the University of Oregon (M.S., exercise science, 1992).

In addition to his coaching duties at Carleton, Clark serves as a professor of physical education, athletics and recreation. Clark and his wife, Kathy, have two children.

Plotz, a 2000 graduate from Iowa State University and former team captain for the Cyclones, joined the Carleton coaching staff in 2005. She was named MIAC Coach-of-the-Year while acting as the interim head coach during Andy Clark's 2007-2008 sabbatical. During her fifth year at Iowa State she served a year on the Cyclones coaching staff after her eligibility was complete. Plotz then served as head swimming and diving coach at Williamsburg (Iowa) High School while teaching at an elementary school. She also has club coaching experience.
 
Plotz appreciates that Carleton offers her the "opportunity to work with student-athletes who are multi-faceted – excelling in both their academic and athletic endeavors". In addition to coaching for the Knights, Plotz is the student-work supervisor for the lifeguard staff and teaches aquatics classes, including an Instructional Swim class every term. In her 15 years, roughly 600 students have learned to swim in this class. She and her husband, Jared, reside in Lakeville, Minn. with their two sons.

Gabe Kortuem is in his second stint as diving coach for the Knights. He came to Carleton in time for the 2003-04 season and left after the 2013-14 campaign. After a one-year hiatus, he rejoined the Carleton staff before the 2015-16 season. A 2002 graduate of St. Olaf, Kortuem was the national champion on the 1-meter board that year and established the NCAA Division III Championships 1-meter record with a score of 557.90. He has been voted MIAC Diving Coach of the Year by his peers seven times (2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2016, and 2018) and has had numerous athletes qualify for the NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving National Meet. He and his wife, Kristi, and their children reside in Northfield, Minn.

Quinn Arnold began working with the Carleton swimming & diving programs during the 2022-23 season. A four-year member of the swim team at Gustavus Adolphus College, Arnold previously served as an assistant coach with the East Ridge High School program.
