INDIANAPOLIS – Carleton College senior Hans Anderson finished 22nd in the 3-meter diving competition on Day 1 of the 2026 NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships.
 
Anderson totaled 422.70 points as the lone MIAC men's diver to qualify for Nationals this season. Showcasing the depth of this year's field, that score was good for 18th a year ago.
 
During Wednesday's 11-dive prelims, Anderson was third after the first three rounds, but during the middle portion of the competition, he was unable to match his high scoring rate from Regionals.
 
Anderson saved his best for last, finishing Wednesday by posting his top three scores on his final three attempts of the session. He tallied 44.80 points on his 5235D (Back 1 1/2 Somersault 2 1/2 Twist Free), 50.40 points for his 205C (Back 2 1/2 Somersault Tuck), and 51.30 points for his 405C (Inward 2 1/2 Somersault Tuck). Those results netted him more than 23 extra points compared to his scores on those same three dives at Regionals.
 
The top eight divers from Wednesday's prelims advance to the evening's championship final and will be awarded All-America First Team recognition. Spots 9-16 during the prelims progress to the consolation final and will be All-America Second Team.

Anderson returns for the 1-meter competition on Friday, March 20. In between, he will cheer on Carleton's Nina Schwab, who will take part in the women's 1-meter diving competition on Thursday and the 3-meter competition on Saturday.
