BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – Carleton College's
Claire Burbery and
Avery Trapp were tabbed the MIAC Women's Soccer Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week. This is Burbery's first career conference weekly honor and Trapp's third of the season and fifth of her career.
Claire Burbery tallied her first career hat trick — with all three goals coming in the first half — as Carleton blanked Concordia 5-0 on Oct. 1. The three-goal performance equaled her season total entering the match. It was the Knights' first hat trick in a MIAC game since Sept. 25, 2010.
Trapp did not surrender a goal and totaled 11 saves in a pair of conference victories, with 10 of those stops - including on a critical penalty kick in the 46th minute of play - coming in a 1-0 win at St. Catherine on Oct. 4. The ten saves are a season-high for Trapp, who set a new program record in the win with the 32nd victory in-goal of her Carleton career. It was also the 20th clean sheet of her collegiate career.
Burbery, Trapp, and the Knights visit Gustavus Adolphus College for a 3:30 p.m. match on Saturday, Oct. 11.
