Lily Shure collects her first MIAC weekly award

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – Carleton College junior Lily Shure was selected as the MIAC Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for Sept. 22-28. She tallied a goal and an assist in a pair of Knight victories while securing her first conference weekly honor.

Shure's first career goal proved to be the game winner in Carleton's 3-2 win over No. 14-ranked and previously undefeated UW-La Crosse on Sept. 24. Three days later, she assisted on the game-winning tally in the Knights' 3-0 road victory at Macalester.

Shure also played a crucial part of the Carleton defense during week. UW-La Crosse entered the contest averaging 4.89 goals (4th in NCAA Division III) and 29.44 shots per game (second in the nation), but Shure helped the Knights limit the Eagles to only two goals on 14 shots. Carleton then then posted their fourth clean sheet of the season in Saturday's shutout of the Scots.

The Knights host Concordia College-Moorhead at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 1
