PRESCOTT, Wis. – The No. 12-ranked Carleton College women's cross country began the 2024 season by tying for first place at the Rivertown Invite hosted by the University of Wisconsin-River Falls.
Hannah Preisser,
Sophie McManus, and
Aliya Larsen finished 1-2-3 to lead the Knights.
"Great start to the season," said Carleton head coach
Donna Ricks. "The team felt pretty good about it."
Carleton put all five scorers inside the top-15 and finished with 30 points. That matched the point total posted by the University of Minnesota-Duluth, a NCAA Division II program. The Knights edged the Bulldogs on a tiebreaker. UW-River Falls earned third place with 83 points.
Preisser completed the race in 21:55.0, with McManus 15 seconds behind. Larsen crossed the line at 22:35.5.
Lara Erickson was the next finisher for the Knights, placing 12th at 24:01.4.
Libby Rowland took 14th with a time of 24:11.5.
Although they did not factor in the scoring,
Katie Hirsche (24:46.9),
Kayla Marx (25:05.4), and
Maggie Votruba (25:10.8) finished 18th, 21st, and 23rd, respectively.
Carleton has now won seven consecutive meets dating back to Sept. 16, 2023, a streak that includes the 2023 NCAA Championships.

Carleton will compete at the St. Olaf Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 21.
