I CHOSE TO COME TO CARLETON BECAUSE…
I chose to come to Carleton because it was a great fit for me. It's a small school with great science and mathematics programs, and the Carleton women's XC and track teams are very welcoming and supportive, while also being very fast.
WHAT I MOST LIKE ABOUT CARLETON IS…
Its supportive academic environment
INTERNSHIP/EXTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES DURING MY TIME AS A CARLETON STUDENT:
Over two summers and a winter at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, I worked at a marine and clinical research lab at studying periodontitis. The tasks I worked on varied greatly but some of the highlights included contributing to a paper that resulted in authorship (Optimization of the Ligature-induced Periodontitis Mouse Model for Preclinical Research, 2024) and leading my own project on studying the immediate sex differences in gingival inflammation between female and male mice following periodontitis induction. Gaining hands-on research experience was amazing and enhanced my experience as a Carleton student, given that I hope to be involved in academic research in my future.
HOBBIES:
Outside of running and hanging out with my friends, I enjoy reading books, drawing, and cuddling with my dogs, Scooby and Velma.
PERSON(S) WHO HAD THE MOST INFLUENCE ON MY ATHLETIC CAREER:
My family and my parents in particular, as well as my high school coach Mimi
HISTORICAL FIGURE(S) I’D MOST LIKE TO MEET:
I would love to meet historical female scientists like Marie Curie.
