MINNEAPOLIS – Day 2 of the MIAC Swimming and Diving Championships ended with the Carleton College men's swimming & diving team still in fourth place, the same position in which the squad began racing on Thursday.
Ethan Tun (Fy./Potomac, Md./Landon) earned Carleton's first individual all-conference award of the meet after he took third place in the 200-yard IM.
Gustavus Adolphus leads the way with 343 points and has opened up a gap in front of second-place Saint John's (276 points) Carleton has amassed 169 points, only three behind St. Olaf College; the Knights entered the day 38 points behind the Oles. Macalester and Hamline round out the team standings.
Sam Glaubitz (So./Ithaca, N.Y./Ithaca) finished seventh in the championship final of the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:49.79.

Byron Jia (So./Minnetonka, Minn./Breck).
Allen Yuan (Sr./Cary, N.C./Raleigh Charter) and
Collin Eldridge (Fy./Cameron Park, Calif./Union Mine) all earned spots in the "B" final, placing 11th, 12th, 14th, 15th, and 16th, respectively. Smith, Wilmore, Jia, and Eldridge each posted their fastest times of the day during the morning prelims at 4:51.86, 4:53.54, 4:57.25, and 5:04.83. Yuan dropped time during the evening swim as he clocked 5:03.35.
Tun posted a time of 1:59.03 to grab the final spot in the championship final of the 200 IM, then sliced 3.4 seconds off that mark and finished at 1:55.60.
Teagan Johnson (Jr./Byron Center, Mich./Byron Center) also raced in the "A" final, placing eighth. His turned in his best time (1:58.90) during the preliminary round.
Carl Zhang (Jr./Ellicott City, Md./Mount Hebron) also earned the right to come back for the evening session and took 15th overall. He notched a time of 2:00.72 during the prelims.
Josh Wu (So./Germantown, Wis./Germantown) took seventh in the 50-yard freestyle with his time of 21.52.
Morgann Rene (So./Singapore, Singapore/United World College of Southeast Asia) nabbed a spot in the consolation final after clocking 22.17 in the prelims. He placed 14th overall.
The 400-yard medley relay closed the evening session and saw Carleton pick up its fourth All-MIAC performance of the championships. Tun,

Friday will again feature prelims at 10:30 a.m. with the championship and consolation finals at 6:30 p.m. Events will include the 400 IM 100 butterfly, 200 freestyle, 100 breaststroke, 100 backstroke, and 200 freestyle relay.
