GRINNELL, Iowa – The Carleton College men's swimming and diving team returned to competition at the two-day Pioneer Classic. The Knights sit third out of eight teams after Friday's competition, which included racing in five events.
Carleton saw a trio of individual top-5 finishes on Friday.
Ethan Tun (Fy./Potomac, Md./Landon) and
Sam Glaubitz (So./Ithaca, N.Y./Ithaca) placed third and fifth, respectively, out of 50 racers in the 500 freestyle as they reached the wall at 4:55.48 and 4:59.50.
Josh Wu (So./Germantown, Wis./Germantown) added a third-place result—out of 86 swimmers—in the 50-yard freestyle after clocking a time of 21.85.
Tun was Carleton's top finisher in the 200-yard IM, placing 12th at 2:02.80.
The Knights opened Friday's action with a sixth-place result in the 200-yard freestyle relay as Wu, Glaubitz,
Ian Scott (So./Seattle, Wash./Garfield), and
Morgann Rene (So./Singapore, Singapore/United World College Of Southeast Asia) combined on a time of 1:29.85.
Carleton top entry in the final event of the day—the 400-yard medley relay—placed seventh overall. Tun, Wu,
Kevin Chen (Jr./Normal, Ill./Normal Community), and
Aidan Jalili (Fy./Burlington, Vt./Lawrenceville) posted a time of 3:41.03.
Day two of the meet is split into two sessions, one at 9:00 a.m. and the other at 5:00 p.m.
