Friday Recap
NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The Carleton College women's track & field team tied for seventh place at the 2026 MIAC Outdoor Championships. Saturday's action saw
Hannah Preisser was crowned individual champion in the 5,000-meter run.
Both Carleton and Macalester College totaled 59 points after the Scots finished one spot ahead of the Knights in the final event of the meet, the 4x400-meter relay. Concordia College-Moorhead, which won the conference indoor meet in February, completed the indoor-outdoor double by capturing its third career MIAC outdoor team title.
"This has been a season filled with valuable experiences," said Carleton head coach
Donna Ricks. "The coaches have watched tremendous growth throughout the year and are excited to see this team elevate to the next level.
"I have often spoken about the work ethic of this team. Their performances this weekend demonstrated their commitment. Once again, we saw the athletes achieve personal bests and challenge themselves."
One day after besting the field in the 10K by more than a minute, Preisser clocked a time of 17:22.10 to take top honors in the 5000-meter run. She trailed Gustavus' Molly Liston for much of the race, but Preisser made her move with 1,000 meters remaining and pulled away for her sixth career MIAC individual distance title (also the 2024 cross country crown, the 2025 indoor 3K and 5K races, the 2026 indoor 3K race, and 2026 outdoor 10K).
Three other Knights joined Preisser in running the 5000-meter race on Saturday.
Nicole Peterson added to Carleton's point total with her eighth-place result, finishing at 18:26.88.
Louise Ruzanic and
Aliya Larsen placed 14th and 15th, respectively, at 18:47.77 an 18:47.91.
Earlier in the day,
Lauren Tittel was the runner up in the 800-meter run, turning in a personal-best time of 2:12.40 that moves her into the No. 2 spot in program history. She was fourth with 100 meters remaining but passed two runners down the homestretch.
Charlotte Kusch finished ninth at 2:18.42.
Amelia Campbell finished fourth in the 3000-meter steeplechase—earning All-MIAC Honorable Mention—as she clocked a time of 11:17.68.
Nina Peterson finished seventh with a new PR of 11:35.68.
Ava Brosam tied for 11th in the pole vault by clearing 3.23 meters.
Carleton's entry in the 4x100-meter relay finished eighth as
Alice Islam,
Jillian Muglia,
Brianna Lott, and
Terri Mensah combined on a season-best time of 49.82, which was good for the No. 8 spot in team history.
The Knights were also eighth in the 4x400-meter relay as Lott,
Willa Bishop, Kusch, and Tittel turned in a season-best time of 4:08.01.
