ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Carleton College women's track & field team finished third out of 17 teams at the Janis Rider/Doug Bolstorff Invitational hosted by Macalester College. The Knights totaled 18 top-10 results, including a victory for Amelia Campbell in the 1500-meter run.
 
"This track season is short, and as coaches we are grateful that every time these athletes have stepped out on the track, a runway, or into a throwing ring that they have given their best and taken advantage of the opportunity to compete," said Carleton head coach Donna Ricks. "Once again, this has resulted in a number of personal-best performances."
 
Campbell led from start to finish and covered the distance in her race in 4:42.82, good for a margin of victory of more than seven seconds. Louise Ruzanic took third in the event with a personal-best time of 4:51.46, while Nicole Peterson was fourth at 4:51.68 and Nina Peterson place sixth at 4:53.80. Madeleine Reckmeyer finished eighth with a PR of 4:54.18, while Sierra Cherniavsky was ninth at 5:00.78 to establish a personal-best.
 
Terri Mensah finished seventh in the 100-meter dash with a personal-best time of 12.92.
 
Caroline Kelleher was the runner-up in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:08.21 and took fourth in the 100-meter hurdles, crossing the finish line at 16.57.
 
Charlotte Kusch established a new PR of 2:15.19 while placing third in the 800-meter run, moving into the No. 5 spot in Carleton history.
 
The field events saw five top-10 finishes for the Knights. Willa Bishop placed sixth in the javelin throw with a distance of 30.60 meters. Ava Brosam took fourth in the pole vault after clearing 3.21 meters, and Sophie Syverson was ninth at 2.91 meters.
 
Mensah added a fourth-place result in the triple jump, measuring 10.45 meters on her first attempt. Parker Collins was 10th at 9.61 meters.
 
Carleton was fourth in the 4x100-meter relay with a season-best time of 50.47 by Alice Islam, Jillian Muglia, Bianca Lott, and Mensah. The Knights' top entry in the 4x400-meter relay took second as Kusch, Bishop, Sydney Mielcarski, and Reckmeyer combined on a season-best time of 4:15.24. The Knghts' "B" group placed fifth in the event at 4:30.12.
 
Up Next for the Knights
Carleton is slated to go to the Joe Sweeney Invitational on Wednesday, April 29. That meet will be held at the University of St. Thomas. The Knights will then host the MIAC Heptathlon on April 30-May 1.
