NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The Carleton College men's track & field team won three events at eh nine-team Manitou Classic hosted by St. Olaf College. The Knights collected 19 top-five results overall.
Gabe Nichols paced a 1-2-4-5-6 finish for the Knights in the 5000-meter run. He covered the distance in 15:05.78 for a more than 20-second margin of victory.
Travis Brown was second with an outdoor PR of 15:26.20 followed by
Roy Llewellyn (15:32.70),
Martin Moshfeghi (PR – 15:38.50), and
Simon Chambers-Trubatch (PR – 15:40.88) in fourth through sixth places, respectively.
Reese Anderson won the javelin throw with a personal-best distance of 53.49 meters, which puts him on the national leaderboard. He also had a PR in the discus with a heave of 35.69meters.
Dash Schwab took third in the javelin at 44.74 meters.
Carleton swept the podium in the pole vault, with
Soren Kaster edging teammate
James Gates for the top spot. Both cleared 4.35 meters, but Kaster had one less miss earlier in the competition.
Reed White took third place after soaring 4.15 meters.
Asher Nathan was the runner up in the 400-meter dash with a time of 50.95.
James Alexander finished fourth in the event, tying his personal best of 51.13.
Torte Torstenson took second in the 3000-meter steeplechase (9:55.64), while
Gus Schafer was competed in the event for the first time and finished fifth at 10:23.39.
Lucas Lenz was the runner-up in the triple jump and finished fourth in the long jump, measuring collegiate bests of 12.23 meters and 5.79 meters, respectively.
Indy Lyness and
Emerson Lange placed third and fourth, respectively, in the 1500-meter race. The former finished in 4:10.54, while the latter crossed the line at 4:12.04.
Carleton started the racing portion of the day with a four-place result in the 4x100-meter relay.
Isaac Robertson, Alexander, Nathan, and
Nick Chou combined on a time of 44.36. The meet concluded with the 4x400-meter relay, as the Knights placed second with Alexander, Robertson, Nathan, and White turning in a time of 3:28.85.
