Reese Anderson and Soren Kaster take part in separate last chance meets

NORTHFIELD, Minn. – Two members of the Carleton College men's track & field team competed at last chance meets on Thursday. Senior Reese Anderson headed to UW-La Crosse and took part in the javelin competition. Meanwhile, junior Soren Kaster finished third in the decathlon at the Manitou Last Chance Multis.

Anderson's best attempt on the day measured 51.80 meters. Kaster totaled 6,216 points in the decathlon by St. Olaf College.

Kaster was fourth after day one with 3,230 points, but day two featured very windy conditions which hampered scores. He started Thursday's portion of the competition with a time of 16.26 into a headwind during the 110-meter hurdles.

He followed that with a distance of 31.75 meters on his final attempt in the discus. Kaster waited for favorable winds before jumping in the pole vault and cleared 4.35 meters

The decathlon javelin saw the competitors throwing into a 25 mile per hour headwind, drastically reducing the distances and with it the points earned.

Kaster concluded the competition with a time of 4:55.10 in the 1500-meter run.

Up Next for the Knights
The field for the 2026 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships will be announced on Friday, May 15 via a press release on NCAA.com. Kaster is No. 24 on the Division III leaderboard. The top 22 individuals entered receive berths at Nationals, so Kaster would need two of the athletes ahead of him on the performance list to pass on the opportunity in order for his season to continue.
