ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Carleton College women's track & field team turned in a dozen top-10 results as the Knights were sixth at the 15-team Vanessa Seljeskog Classic hosted by Macalester College.
"Each meet we continue to gain insight into coaching this team and are very excited to see what these athletes will accomplish this season," said Carleton head coach
Donna Ricks.
Nine of those top-10 finishes came in the middle distance events.
Claire Vukovics and
Hannah Preisser finished 1-2 in the 1000-meter race, crossing the line at 3:5.20 and a personal-best 3:05.45, respectively.
Aliya Larsen (3:16.68) was 10th the event.
Earlier in the day, Preisser led the Carleton contingent in the mile, finishing as the runner-up with a personal-best time of 5:09.05. She was followed closely by Vukovics, who took third in 5:10.96. Larsen (5:25.05) edged teammate
Amelia Campbell (5:25.32) for sixth place.
The 800-meter race saw
Lauren Tittel (2:18.33) hold off teammate
Pamina Nemet (2:18.50) for third place.
Genevieve Agati had the Knights' other top-10 result on the track, finishing ninth in the 600-meter run with a time of 1:49.28.
Leading the way in the field events,
Caroline Kelleher placed fifth in the high jump by clearing 1.45 meters and
Ava Brosam took seventh in the pole vault after clearing 2.90 meters.
Terri Mensah climbed another spot on Carleton's all-time top-10 list for the 60-meter dash, moving to seventh after clocking a time of 8.17 seconds, which was 14th of 51 racers.

Carleton heads across the Cannon River to compete at the St. Olaf Invitational and Multi on Jan. 30-31.
