BROOKLYN PARK, Minn. - The Carleton College men's golf team moved into third place on Day 2 of the MIAC Championships. Junior
Sam Higaki posted the tournament's lowest 18-hole total thus far with a three-under-par 69 and moved into a tie for second place on the individual leaderboard.
Gustavus Adolphus took over first place after shooting 295 (+7), bringing their 36-hole total to 596 (+20). They hold a four-shot lead over second-place Bethel University at +24. Carleton is six shots off the lead at +26 (303+299=602). St. Olaf College is in fourth place at +34 (610), followed by Saint John's University at +39 (615).
"The course was playing very difficult again today, and only two players were under par. We played very well as a team today, said Carleton head coach
Sloan Wallgren. "We struggled a bit on the back nine but ended with some momentum. The team is excited to go out and try to chase down the leaders. Tomorrow should be a great battle between the top teams."
Higaki played the par 5s at three-under-par and had a total of five birdies with only two bogeys. He began his day with a birdie on hole one and played the front nine at one-under-par. Higaki played the back nine at two-under-par, ending the same way he started, with a birdie on eighteen. He is currently at two-over-par (77+69=146) heading into Monday's final round.

Junior
Justin Rodriguez started the day strong with birdies on three of the first six holes. He played the par 3s at even-par and carded a 76 (+4) in Sunday's round two. Rodriguez is currently six-over-par for the tournament and tied for sixth place overall (74+76=150).

Senior Gordan Walker played the front nine at one-under-par on his way to a round of 75 (+3). He is now in a tie for 12th place at +9 (78+73=153) over the first two days.
Sophomore
Dillon Croco carded an 80 (+8) in Sunday's round and is in a tie for 17th place at +10 (74+80=154).
First-year
Austin Mak contributed to the Knights' score after shooting a 79 (+7) for the second straight day and is in a tie for 30th place at +14 (79+79=158).

Carleton will play alongside Gustavus and Bethel during Monday's final round, once again at Edinburgh Golf Course, with tee times beginning at 10:18 a.m.
