Will Schnepf added more awards to his mantel as he was voted All-Region by both the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) and D3baseball.com.
Schnepf was a first-team pick by the ABCA, while he was a third-team selection to the D3baseball.com All-Region 9 squad as a utility player. Carleton players have now won 22 All-Region awards over the last 23 years (see full list below).
Over 44.0 innings pitched, the Dallas native compiled a sparkling 1.84 ERA, which was third-best in the region, third in Carleton history, and 19th in NCAA Division III. He allowed the fewest hits per 9 innings pitched (5.73) in the region and ranked 16th in NCAA D-III during the regular season. He tossed three complete games — which tied for third in the region — owned a 1.02 WHIP (walks plus hits per inning pitched). Schnepf held opponents to a .183 batting average, best among MIAC hurlers. He also fanned 35 hitters on the season.
Schnepf was the only pitcher in the region and 1 of only 8 across NCAA Division III with a sub-2.00 ERA, a WHIP below 1.05, and an opponents' batting average below .200. He began the season with an 18.0-inning scoreless streak that spanned three full starts and most of a fourth.
At the plate, the junior led Carleton in batting average (.378), slugging percentage (.511), OPS (.928), and RBI (24) — all career highs — across 96 plate appearances. He struck out only one per 16.0 plate appearances and made only two errors in the field across 177 chances for a .989 fielding percentage.
Highlights of his season with the bat included a walkoff double against Hamline and a 3-for-5 outing against St. Olaf with a double and triple. On the mound, he twirled a 7.0-inning complete game win against Concordia, punching out eight and allowing just three hits and one earned run.
Schnepf was at his best against the best. He threw 11.0 innings against regionally ranked teams, pitching to a 0.81 ERA. When hitting against regionally ranked teams, he went 5-for-8 with three doubles.
