Alec Holcomb took over the Carleton baseball program prior to the 2023 season. He previously served as performance director at Velocity Baseball, a role that he began in 2020. He was also a head coach within the Rochester (Minn.) Pines club baseball program.
Holcomb pitched two years at North Dakota State University (NCAA Division I) before concluding his collegiate career with a season on the mound for Concordia-St Paul (NCAA Division II). In his debut season at NDSU, he tied for second among newcomers to the Bison roster with 12 games pitched. During his year at CSP, he led the Bears in saves (5) and tied for the team lead in appearances (13). Holcomb owned a career 9.1 K/9 ratio while holding opponents to a .267 batting average.
Holcomb earned a sport management degree from NDSU and is pursuing a master's degree in coaching and athletic administration from Concordia-St. Paul.
Assistant Coach Brian Price (Pitching)
Brian Price joined the Carleton staff in 2023 as the team's pitching coach. He graduated from South Dakota State University (at the time NCAA D-II) and pitched four seasons for the Jackrabbits. He has over 25 years experience as a baseball coach across South Dakota and Minnesota and has been a part of two Minnesota amateur baseball state championship teams.
Assistant Coach Nate Van Roekel (Hitting/Infield)
Nate Van Roekel was added to the coaching staff before the 2023 season. He spent four years on the baseball team at Winona State University (NCAA D-II) and posted a career batting average of .355 with 15 home runs before graduating in 2012. He has nine years of coaching experience between the Owatonna High School varsity team and New Ulm Legion baseball. After college, he spent nine years with the Dundas Dukes amateur baseball team.
Assistant Coach Mike Michalak (Hitting/Outfield)
Mike Michalak joined the Knights in 2023 after more than three years of coaching baseball in Minnesota. He played his college baseball at Des Moines Area Community College before spending his final two collegiate seasons at the University of Illinois (NCAA D-I), where he hit .276 with a .369 on-base percentage.
Assistant Coach Alec Kotler (Infield)
Alec Kotler '22 was added to the Carleton staff in 2023 after four seasons playing for the Knights.
