NORTHFIELD, Minn. –
Hannah Preisser won the individual title at the MIAC Championships, helping the No. 10-ranked Carleton College women's cross country team finish as runners-up at the conference meet.
Racing on its home course, No. 17 St. Olaf College won the team title with score of 34 points. The Knights were next at 54 points, with College of St. Scholastica finishing third at 99 points. This was the first time that Carleton finished behind another NCAA Division III squad—at any race—since finishing fourth at the 2022 NCAA Championships.
"We were prepared for the race to be a Northfield battle today," said Carleton head coach
Donna Ricks. "Our team has been performing at an incredibly high level for two seasons. Today, we did not come out on top, however, our team certainly had some things to celebrate.
"Hannah demonstrated her mental toughness once again as she moved into first place after the mile and continued to increase her lead, dominating the women's race."
Preisser crossed the line at 21:18.9, good for a 45.5-second margin of victory. She is the seventh Carleton woman to be the individual MIAC Champion (see chart below).
Sophie McManus placed fourth at 22:24.5, and
Aliya Larsen was the third Knight to take home All-MIAC status as she finished sixth at 22:47.5.
Libby Rowland and
Nora Daley earned all-conference honorable mention. Rowland was 19th at 23:25.8, and Daley covered the six-kilometer course in 23:41.4 to place 25th.
Lara Erickson and
Maggie Votruba rounded out Carleton's top-seven runners, finishing 45th and 53rd, respectively. The former clocked a time of 24:41.5, while the latter finished in 24:56.6.
