COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. --
Henry Bowman (Jr./Lafayette, Colo./Centaurus) won the steeplechase at the CSB-SJU Invitational, smashing the meet record by 32 seconds. He covered the 3,000-meter distance in 9:35.19, narrowly improving on his personal PR. All told, the Carleton College men's track & field team posted 15 top-5 results on the day.

Stephen Lavey (Sr./Cedar Grove, Wis./Cedar Grove-Belgium) and
Adam Nakasaka (Sr./Chevy Chase, Md./Bethesda-Chevy Chase) both bettered the previous meet record and their own personal-best times as they finished second and fourth, respectively, in the 1500-meter run. Lavey turned in a time of 3:58.21, while Nakasaka clocked 4:04.10.

Ethan Ash (So./Oakland, Calif./Head-Royce School),
Bridger Rives (Sr./Skiatook, Okla./Bishop Kelley), and
Jeremy Fong (Jr./Saitama, Japan/Christian Academy) finished second through fourth, respectively, in the 400-meter dash as they registered times of 50.24, 50.92, and 52.30. For Ash and Fong, those times established new personal bests.

Josh Meier (Fy./Fort Dodge, Iowa/Fort Dodge),
Alistair Pattison (So./St. Paul, Minn./Como Park), and
Ben Perry (Sr./Minneapolis, Minn./Minneapolis Washburn) took second, fourth, and fifth, respectively, in the 800-meter run. Meier crossed the line at 1:58.51, with Pattison at 1:58.97 and Perry at 1:59.98.

Ben Santos (Sr./Boulder, Colo./Boulder) took second in the 5000-meter run with his time of 14:52.24, which was more than a 30-second improvement on his previous PR and bettered the previous meet record by more than 44 seconds.

Carleton entries in the 4x400-meter relay finished third and fifth with times of 3:28.54 and 3:36.18.

In the field events, Carleton had a trio of fifth-place results. In the javelin,
Ian Mortensen (So./Shoreline, Wash./Shorecrest) measured 46.44 meters on his first attempt.
Tim Adams (Fy./Honoluu, Hawaii/Punahou School) cleared a personal-best 3.80 meters in the pole vault, and
Aravindh Subramanian (Jr./Dayton, N.J./South Brunswick) earned the same spot in the standings for the high jump as he cleared 1.80 meters.

Up Next for the Knights
Carleton will spend the next two weeks focusing on training and technical work. The team may send some distance runners to the Phil Esten invitational hosted by UW-La Crosse on April 22, but the next full-team meet will be the Carleton Relays on Saturday, April 23.
