MINNEAPOLIS – The Carleton College men's swimming & diving team wrapped up the regular season with the final day of competition at the Minnesota Challenge, a two-day meet held at the University of Minnesota Aquatics Center.
Racing on Saturday was broken up into four events in the morning and four more during the evening session.
"Overall, it was just an outstanding meet for our tapered team members, with most having significant time drops in every event they swam," said Carleton head coach
Andy Clark. "The energy and efforts that they gave throughout this meet was incredible, and there is no question that the results that they produced send such a positive message to the rest of the team as they get ready for the MIAC Championships."
Ethan Tun (Fy./Potomac, Md./Landon) and
Ian Scott (So./Seattle, Wash./Garfield) notched top-10 results in the 200-yard freestyle. Tun placed sixth overall with a season-best time of 1:46.78, while Scott took eighth place at 1:47.06, smashing his season best from a week ago.
During the 1650-yard freestyle, the Knights saw two more top-10 finishes in the same event. The time
Jamie Willmore (Sr./Salt Lake City, Utah/Rowland Hall St. Marks) and
Max Serota (Fy./Philadelphia, Penn./Lower Merion) earned sixth and seventh place, respectively. The former reached the wall in 17:19.46, while the latter covered the distance in 18:12.36. Both Knights trimmed more than a minute off their seed time.
Later in the meet, Wilmore notched his second top-10 swim of the day, this one in the 200-yard backstroke as he registered a time of 2:03.08.
Adam Nik (Sr./Mankato, Minn./Eden Prairie) was Carleton's top finisher in the 100-yard backstroke as his time of 57.76 was good for 12th place.
Christopher Maring (Fy./Cincinnati, Ohio/Seven Hills) clocked a season-best 2:17.62 to finish 12th in the 200-yard breaststroke, while Scott led the Knights in the 100-yard freestyle with his season-best time of 49.19, which was good for 15th place.
Allen Yuan (Sr./Cary, N.C./Raleigh Charter) had Carleton's top time in the final event of the day, the 200-yard butterfly. He posted a season-best time of 2:09.21 in taking 16th place.
