The PEAR Department is taking this opportunity to recognize and celebrate the seniors on our spring sports teams. While we are sad that we were unable to watch them compete this season, we are excited about what the future holds for each of them. Keep checking back in the coming weeks as we take the time to highlight each of these individuals. Click here for our Senior Spotlight archive.

What are your plans after graduation?
Commercial Associate at Exact Sciences
What was your favorite sports moment at Carleton?
Sweeping St. John's my junior year, and more specifically the bus ride back to campus afterwards.
Why did you choose Carleton?
The opportunity to play collegiate baseball while also receiving a top-tier education.
Outside of athletics, what will you miss most about Carleton?
All of my friends and teammates, as well as the incredible professors and learning environment.
What else has your Carleton experience included?
Internship at Genomic Health (now Exact Sciences) and an externship at Kaiser Permanente.
What is one piece of advice you would give to prospective student-athletes?
Work hard, but don't forget to have fun. Your time at Carleton is short, so you might as well enjoy the time you get.
What is a favorite memory you have of your head coach?
Coach Rushing has a unique ability to watch you take one swing or throw one pitch and offer one or two small technical adjustments to make that lead to instantaneous improvement - I remember my junior year I was struggling to throw a curveball and he told me to put slightly more pressure on the ball with my middle finger, an adjustment that was a turning point my ability to throw a curveball.
Quote from Coach Aaron Rushing:
"Zane is an excellent athlete who worked himself into one of the top defensive outfielders we have had. He was a great leader by example and a real leader of his position group for the past two years."
