Hannah Preisser named MIAC Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – Carleton College senior Hannah Preisser won both the 5,000 and 10,000-meter runs at the MIAC Outdoor Championships last week. Today she was named by the conference coaches as the MIAC Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year.

This is the fourth time that a Carleton athlete has taken home the MIAC Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year Award as Preisser joins Sandy Helquist (2000), Laura Bloedorn (2003), and Simone Childs-Walker (2011) on that short list.

In last Friday's 10,000-meter race, Preisser led the entire way, setting a personal best and breaking the facility record as she finished in 35:30.60, good for an impressive 69-second margin of victory.

Less than 24 hours later, Preisser was back on the track and clocked a time of 17:22.10 to take top honors in the 5000-meter run. She trailed Gustavus' Molly Liston for much of the race, but Preisser made her move with 1,000 meters remaining and pulled away for her sixth career MIAC individual distance title (also the 2024 cross country crown, the 2025 indoor 3K and 5K races, the 2026 indoor 3K race, and 2026 outdoor 10K).

This is Preisser's second conference Athlete of the Year award as she took home the women's cross country honor in 2024.

Since the Knights joined the MIAC in the early 1980s, five Carleton women have completed the 5K-10K double at the conference championships a combined total of nine times. Preisser is the first to do so since 2012.
