NORTHFIELD, Minn. – Carleton College sophomore Caroline Kelleher sits 13th after the first day of competition at the MIAC Heptathlon. Taking part in the seven-event competition for the first time, she posted personal bests in three of the four events on Thursday.
 
Kelleher started the 18-person competition with a time of 16.17 to establish a new PR in the 100-meter hurdles. After clearing 1.45 meters in the high jump, she registered a personal-best 7.31 meters in the shot put and a time of 27.00 in the 200-meter dash.
 
Kelleher has amassed 2,327 points over the first four events. Concordia-Moorhead's Kaili Malvey and Lauren Pearson are tied atop the standings with 2,784 points.
 
Friday's portion of the heptathlon will include the long jump, javelin, and 800-meter run.
