Gabe Nichols wins 1500m at Joe Sweeney Invitational

ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Carleton College men's track & field program sent a contingent to compete in three events at the Joe Sweeney Invitational hosted by the University of St. Thomas on Wednesday.
 
A total of 14 men's teams were represented at the meet, including two NCAA Division I programs and two Division II teams.
 
Gabe Nichols won the 1500-meter run with a season-best time of 3:56.67. The Knights had five runners post personal-best times, including top-10 finishes for Dashiell Coyier (fifth at 3:59.63), Emerson Lange (eighth at 4:04.72), and Simon Chambers-Trubatch (10th at 4:06.67).
 
Roy Llewellyn placed 16th in the 5000-meter run, crossing the line in a season-best 15:13.50. Of the eight of the runners ahead of him compete for St. Thomas (NCAA D-I). Martin Mosheghi was 27th in the 44-runner field with a new PR of 15:32.66.
 
Ansel Wallace took fifth in the pole vault, clearing a personal-best 3.76 meters.
 
Up Next for the Knights
Carleton hosts the MIAC Decathlon on April 30-May 1. Thursday's action is slated to begin at 12:00 p.m.
