Gabe Nichols wins 5K on first day of Rider/Bolstorff Invitational

ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Carleton College men's track & field team sent nine racers to compete in the 5000-meter run on day one of the Janis Rider/Doug Bolstorff Invitational hosted by Macalester College. Gabe Nichols won the event with a time of 14:55.37, bettering his previous season best by more than 10 seconds.
 
The 48-runner field was split into two heats, and Travis Brown, Dashiell Coyier, and Simon Chambers-Trubatch joined Nichols in posting top-10 finishes. Brown crossed the line with a new personal-best time of 15:21.27 as he held off Coyier (15:21.55) for fourth place. Chambers-Trubatch also posted a new PR, covering the distance in 15:35.41 to place eighth overall.
 
Andrew Jamison and Kyle Thompson clocked season-best times of 15:51.94 and 16:04.91, respectively. Ravi Achar finished at 16:11.74, while Max Whalen recorded a personal-best time of 16:28.84 and Ryan Bernstein had a season-best finish of 17:07.57.

Field events on day two of the meet begin at 10:00 a.m. for the men, with racing on the track commencing at 11:00 a.m.
