NEW PRAGUE, Minn. – The Carleton men's golf team is currently tied for seventh place following the opening day of the Bobby Krig Invite held on a windy Saturday at New Prague Golf Club.
 
Tournament host No. 23 Gustavus Adolphus College finished round one with a team score of 296 (+12). They are two strokes ahead of second-place University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire at 298 (+14) and St. Olaf College in third place at 300 (+16). The Knights, No. 33 in the Scoreboard by Clippd rankings, compiled a team score of 309 (+25).
 
Gordon Walker led the Knights with an opening-round 75 (+4) and is in 11th place on the 97-player leaderboard. The senior started his day with back-to-back birdies, had a stretch of bogeys in the middle of his round, then finished with five consecutive pars.
 
Justin Rodriguez carded an opening-round 77 (+6) for Carleton and is tied for 28th on the leaderboard. Rodriguez bogeyed two of his first four holes on Saturday before playing the next six holes at even par.
 
Dillon Croco was next for Carleton with a 78 (+7). He started the day at one-under par after five holes and finished the round tied at 35th on the leaderboard.
 
Oscar Peche rounded out the scoring for the Knights at 79 (+8) for the day.
 
Sam Higaki, the other member of the Carleton starting lineup, finished the first round with a score of 80 (+9).
 
Austin Mak and Gareth Birney, playing as individual entrants, carded an 80 (+9) and 83 (+12), respectively.

The final day of competition includes 36 holes and will be played on Sunday, April 19, at Le Sueur Country Club, beginning with a 9:00 a.m. shotgun start.
