PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – Three members of the Carleton College women's track & field team competed in the 5000-meter run at the UW-Platteville Invitational on Friday evening. The field included a whopping 204 racers across seven heats.
 
"These women did a great job competing in a very competitive field," said Carleton head coach Donna Ricks. "I was impressed with how they held their composure and implemented their race strategy."
 
The field included 14 runners from NCAA Division I programs and another 22 from D-II squads.
 
Hannah Preisser placed 15th overall, trailing four of the D-I racers. She was tripped up with two laps to go but got up and finished strong, covering the distance in a personal-best 16:58.61. That time moved her into fifth in program history and is tops in the MIAC this season.
 
Claire Vukovics took 26th place after crossing the line at 17:14.63, which ranks second in the MIAC this season and smashed her collegiate best for the distance.
 
Lauren Tittel raced the 5000-meter distance for the first time on a collegiate track and took 44th place at 17:29.18.
 
Up Next for the Knights
The rest of the roster will compete on Saturday, April 11 at Manitou Classic hosted by St. Olaf College. Field events start at 10:00 a.m. with racing on the track beginning at 11:00 a.m.
