WESTMONT, Calif. – Six members of the Carleton College men's track & field program competed at a pair of Southern California meets while finishing up Spring Break.
 
Soren Kaster won the decathlon at the Klein/Nwaba Combined Events hosted by Westmont College. He totaled a personal-best 6,490 points overall, which ranks No. 4 in Carleton history and currently ranks No. 4 in NCAA Division III.
 
On Day 1, he clocked a time of 11.61 in the 100-meter dash, set an outdoor PR of 6.18 meters in the long jump, measured 10.59 meters in the shot put, set an outoor PR and tied his overall personal best by clearing 1.75 meters in the high jump, and finished the 400-meter dash in 51.87.
 
He was second entering Day 2 of the competition, but quickly took the lead and pulled away from the rest of the field. He completed the 110-meter hurdles in 15.97, measured a personal-best 33.6 meters in the discus, cleared 4.40 meters in the pole vault, threw the javelin 47.84 meters, and wrapped up the two-day competition with a new PR of 4:31.2 in the 1500-meter run.
 
Reed White finished in fourth place with 5,175 points. He had times of 11.91 in the 100-meter dash, 51.39 (PR) in the 400-meter dash, 18.16 in the 110 hurdles, and 4:28.89 (PR) in the 1500-meter race. He set additional personal bests in the long jump (5.88 meters), discus (22.02 meters), and Javelin (28.36 meters). White also measured 6.33 meters in the shot put before clearing 1.54 meters in the high jump and 4.00 meters in the pole vault.
 
Reece Anderson started the competition with a time of 11.91 in the 100-meter dash, but due to an "iffy" hamstring injury did not compete in the long jump, 400-meter dash, 110 hurdles, or 1500-meter run. He set a personal-best 11.13 meters in the shot put before measuring 35.45 meters in the discus and 47.57 meters in the javelin. He set a PR of 1.66 meters in the high jump and cleared 3.60 meters in the pole vault. Anderson accumulated 3,370 points for the six events in which he competed.
 
Further down the Pacific Coast, three other Knights competed at the Mangrum Invitational hosted by Cal State San Marcos. Lucas Heldman placed 12th in the high jump with a height of 1.75 meters, Darren Nakahata clocked a time of 55.96 in the 400-meter dash, and Ravi Achar raced the 5000-meter distance and with a time of 16:06.92, finished 30th of 47 runners.
