NORTHFIELD, Minn. – Carleton College junior Soren Kaster is in fifth place after the opening day of the heptathlon competition at the 2026 MIAC Indoor Track & Field Championships.
 
Kaster accumulated 2,438 points through the first four events, while teammate Reed White totaled 1,906 points on day one.
 
Kaster finished the 55-meter dash in 6.81 seconds, soared 5.96 meters in the long jump, measured a season-best 10.83 meters in the shot put, and cleared 1.71 meters in the high jump.
 
White clocked a time of 6.85 in the 55-meter race, measured 5.52 meters in the long jump and 6.04 meters in the shot put, and cleared 1.53 meters in the high jump.
 
The heptathlon resumes on Friday at 10:00 a.m. with the 55-meter hurdles followed by the pole vault and the 1000-meter run. The afternoon will welcome the first full day of competition at the MIAC Indoor Championships as field events begin at 4:00 p.m. with racing on the track starting at 4:30 p.m.
