NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The Carleton College women's indoor track & field team began the 2026 season with two event victories and 14 top-five results at the Ole Opener, a 12-team competition hosted by St. Olaf College.
"Impressive for the first meet of the season," said Carleton head coach
Donna Ricks. "This team is a joy to coach. Their overall positive attitude, work ethic, and support of one another will elevate everyone's performances over the season.
First-year
Pamina Nemet won the 600-yard with a time of 1:39.26, good for No. 10 on Carleton's all-time record board. Rookie
Lauren Tittel won the 1000-meter run with a time of 3:00.27, also good for No. 10 in school history. (see charts below)
Sophomore
Kayla Marx finished as the runner up in the 1000-meter race, crossing the line at 3:06.24, while
Nina Peterson placed fourth overall with her time of 3:09.95.
Sophomore
Charlotte Kusch ran the indoor 800-meter distance for the first time and took fourth place, finishing at 2:31.53 to lead four Knights in the top 10.
First-year
Nicole Peterson was Carleton's lone entrant in the mile run, She clocked 5:26.79 to place third.
Senior
Hannah Preisser, first-year
Claire Vuckovics, and senior
Aliya Larsen finished second, third, and fifth, respectively, in the 3000-meter run. Preisser clocked a time of 10:17.33, while Vukovics finished at 10:29.99, and Larsen came across at 10:38.20.
The Knights saw a trio of top-five results in the field events. Sophomore
Caroline Kelleher took third in the high jump after clearing a personal-best 1.51 meters, first-year
Terri Mensah placed fifth in the long jump, and rookie
Ava Brosam took third in the pole vault after clearing 3.00 meters.
The meet concluded with the 4x400-meter relay. The Knights top entry of Kelleher, Kush, Marx, and Tittel placed third at 4:18.13. Calreton 'B' entry of
Islam, Peterson,
Shemsy Lewis-Musa, and
Sierra Cherniavsky placed fifth at 4:31.21.
Up Next for the Knights
Carleton heads to the Vanessa Seljeskog Classic to be held at Macaleter College on Saturday, Jan. 24. Competition is slated to start at 11:00 a.m.
