GENEVA, Ohio –
Sophie McManus of the Carleton College women's track & field team closed her collegiate career by racing the 3000-meter steeplechase at the 2025 NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships.
With a time of 11:03.13, McManus finished ninth in her heat and 17th overall out of 22 entrants, matching her placement at last year's national meet. A total of twelve runners — the top four finishers in each of the two prelim heats and the next four fastest times — qualified for the finals.
"I am so proud of Sophie and all she has accomplished at Carleton and what she has done for our teams," said Carleton head coach
Donna Ricks.
"Her commitment to training and diligence in all aspects of life kept her healthy and strong, allowing her to compete at all 12 MIAC Championships (cross country, indoor track & field, and outdoor track & field). Her journey as an athlete took her to four NCAA Cross Country Championships, and she was a three-time NCAA Championships qualifier in track & field.
"Sophie has been an instrumental leader on this team. I am grateful for the commitment she gave the past four years. We will certainly miss her — and all our amazing seniors — next year."
