LA CROSSE, Wis. – Carleton College junior Gabe Nichols saw his season come to an end after racing at the UW-La Crosse Final Qualifier, one of a handful "last chance" meets across the country.
 
Nichols clocked a season a season-best time of 3:51.40 in the 1500-meter run, which placed him fifth out of 35 entrants in the event. While that performance was more than a 3.6-second improvement from last weekend's MIAC Championships, it was still not fast enough to move Nichols high enough on the national leaderboard to receive an invitation to the NCAA Championships for the second consecutive season.
