BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – A superb two-way season earned junior pitcher/first baseman
Will Schnepf of the Carleton College baseball team his second All-MIAC honor in the MIAC coaches' end-of-season awards.
Schnepf was excellent on both sides of the ball this season. He played in all but the season's final game as a pitcher or hitter.
On the mound, Schnepf worked one of the top seasons in Carleton annals. The right-hander tossed 44.0 innings over eight starts, pitching to a 1.84 ERA. That mark is the third-best in recorded team history among Knights pitchers with at least 30 innings in a season (see chart below). Schnepf yielded one earned run or less in six of eight starts this season and allowed just a 1.02 WHIP, a MIAC-low .188 batting average against, and struck out 35.
Carleton Single-Season ERA Leaders (min 30 IP and calculated per 9 inning)
1. 0.54 – John Worcester (33.0 IP) – 1964
2. 1.65 – Kiefer Lord (49.0 IP) – 2022
3. 1.84 – Will Schnepf (44.0 IP) – 2025
4. 2.01 – John Nielson (67.0 IP) – 1989
While Schnepf was voted to the All-MIAC squad as a pitcher, he also starred with the bat. He hit a team-high .378 overall, getting on base at a .417 clip, and slugging a team-best .511. He knocked eight doubles and led the Knights with 24 RBIs. He also struck out just six times in 96 plate appearances.
Schnepf, who received All-MIAC honorable mention following the 2024 season, is the 26th player in recorded team history to collect multiple all-conference honors.
