Aliya Larsen's 5K win highlights Knights' performance at Hamline Invite

ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Carleton College women's track & field team participated in its first full-squad competition of the outdoor season, posting a total of nine top-10 results at the Hamline Invitational, which included 16 NCAA Division I, II, and III programs. Aliya Larsen set a new personal best while winning the 5000-meter run.

"The team did a great job handling the elements," said Carleton head coach Donna Ricks, "and as a result had strong performances all around."

Larsen crossed the line at 17:25.63, good for the No. 15 time in Division III so far this season. The event's next three finishers compete for the University of Minnesota (NCAA Division I). Larsen sat fourth for the opening four laps, moved into third place for the next three-plus laps before taking the lead before the 3,000-meter mark. She ran from the front the rest of the way.

"Aliya ran a patient and tactical race," said Ricks.

Nora Daley and Madeleine Reckmeyer placed eighth and ninth, respectively, in the 1500-meter run. Daley turned in a personal-best time of 5:03.63, while Reckmeyer was racing the distance for the first time in her collegiate career. Celia Lehmann-Duke also notched a PR in the event with a time of 6:09.53.

Michelle Musa finished 10th overall in the 200-meter dash with a personal best time of 26.97. She added another PR in the 100-meter dash at 13.15.

Stephanie Baranov notched a new personal record with her time of 1:04.93 in the 400-meter dash.

Rookies Claire Miyoshi and Parker Collins finished fourth and fifth, respectively, in the triple jump. The former measured 9.71 meters on her first attempt of the day, while the latter's 9.28-meter leap came on her second try of the prelims. Miyoshi also placed ninth in the long jump after measuring 4.57 meters.

Willa Bishop made her collegiate debut and finished sixth in the javelin. Her distance of 26.69 meters was the best by a Knight since the 2023 MIAC Championships. She also took eighth in the discus, measuring 33.90 meters
