NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The Carleton College men's track & field team finished first in a half-dozen events at the Carleton Relays.
Travis Brown won the 10,000-meter run,
Gabe Nichols took first place in the 1500-meter run,
Soren Kaster prevailed in the 110-meter hurdles and pole vault,
Reece Anderson bested the field in the 400-meter hurdles, and the Knights concluded the day with a victory in the 4x400-meter relay.
This marked the final time that the five seniors on the roster —
Tim Adams,
Ethan Cline-Cole,
Ben Mazor,
Josh Meier, and
Noah Morris — would compete at Laird Stadium.
Adams finished 11th in the pole vault after clearing 3.52 meters. Cline-Cole measured 12.55 meters in the triple jump and ran on the Knights 4x100-meter relay. Mazor clocked a personal-best time of 4.17.69 in the 1500-meter run and raced on Carleton's 'B' squad for the 4x400-meter relay. Meier took fourth in the 800-meter run (1:57.32) and competed on the winning 4x400 entry. Morris placed eighth in the shot put (11.04 meters) and measured a pesoanl-best 25.29 meters in the discus.
The six-team meet began with Brown winning the 10,000-meter run with a PR of 32:49.66.
Two events later, Nichols pulled away from the field to win the 1500-meter race with a time of 3:53.88. He came back on the track later in the day and placed third in the 800-meter run (1:57.14).
Kaster won the 110 hurdles with an PR of 16.03, then headed over to pole vault where he cleared 4.42 meters to earn top billing. He also placed fourth in the javelin after his initial attempt measured 42.90 meters.
Anderson came from behind to win the 400 hurdles with a time of 57.89. He also took fourth in the 110 hurdles with a new PR of 16.73 and took sixth in the pole vault (3.97 meters).
James Alexander set a new PR of 51.24 as he finished third in the open 400-meter dash. He also PR'd in the javelin (39.23 meters), ran on the 4x100-relay, and led off the wining 4x400 squad.
Max Jones measured 6.47 meters in the long jump to finish fifth, good for a new PR of more than 1.5 feet. He raced on the runner-up 4x100-meter relay along with Alexander, Cline-Cole, and
Asher Nathan, who placed second in the 200-meter dash (23.11) and capped the meet with a strong anchor leg in the 4x400 relay.
In that final event, Alexander, Nathan, and
Indy Lyness helped Meier notch a victory in his final home appearance.

Carleton currently has three competitions on the docket for next week: The Gary Wilson Invitational at the University of Minnesota on Wednesday, April 23; the Rider-Bolstorff Invitational 5K on Thursday at Macalester College, and the remainder of that meet on Saturday, April 26.
