ARDEN HILLS, Minn. — The Carleton College men's track & field program took part in two meets this weekend.
Gabe Nichols and
Roy Llewelln raced the 5,000-meter run at the UW-Plattevile Invitational late on Friday evening, while the balance of the roster attended the 18-team Bethel Invitational on Saturday.
Nichols posted a personal-best time of 14:34.50 while placing 46th in the 5K at UW-Platteville. Llewellyn covered the distance in 14:54.68 to finish 97th out of 274 racers spread across eight heats.
At the Bethel Invitational, the Knights turned in five top-10 results and posted 13 personal bests despite very windy conditions.
• Carleton's lone victory came in the day's final event, the 5,000-meter run.
Ravi Achar won by posting a personal-best time of 15:48.80. He trailed by about 15 meters entering the final straightway but used a furious kick over the final 100 meters to catch and pass the leader by 0.05 second.

Soren Kaster placed fourth in the pole vault after clearing 4.40 meters, while
James Gates took eighth by clearing 3.95 meters.

Josh Meier and
Indy Lyness finished eighth and ninth, respectively, in the 800-meter run with times of 1:56.87 and 1:56.90. Lyness raced this distance for the first time since winning the event at the 2024 MIAC Outdoor Championships.

Asher Nathan (51.09) and
James Alexander (51.68) both ran PRs in the 400-meter dash. They later joined Meier and Lyness in finishing 11th in the 4x400-meter relay at 3:26.08.
* The 1500-meter run proved to be another good event for Carleton as each of the team's entrants posted new PRs.
Travis Brown edged teammate
Ryan Bernstein by 0.02 second to win the second heat. The duo placed 12th and 13th overall with times of 4:12.75 and 4:12.77.
Andrew Jamison turned in a time of 4:15.47 during the same heat.
Pranav Khadkikar won his heat by nearly five seconds, crossing the line at 4:13.99.
Ronen Silberman established a personal best of 4:19.01.

Tommy Applebaum (54.94 in 400m),
Ethan Cline-Cole (12.01 in 100m),
Max Jones (5.99 meters in long jump), Khadkikar (2:07.36 in 800m), and
Kyle Thompson (2:08.57 in 800m).

This week, Carleton is currently scheduled to race the 10,000-meter run at the Phil Esten Challenge hosted by UW-La Crosse in addition to hosting the Carleton Relays on Saturday, April 19.
