Box Score ORLANDO, Fla. – The No. 40-ranked Carleton College women's tennis team concluded its Spring Break trip to the Sunshine State with a 7-0 victory over Union College.
The Knights (8-2) started the day by sweeping the three doubles matches.
Amelia Asfaw and
Mariam Nechiporuk cruised to a 6-1 win at the top spot, while
Ingrid Smith and
Ryann Witter notched a 6-2 victory at No. 2 doubles.
Miriam Shteyman and
Kat Smiricinschi capped the early session with a 7-5 triumph at the third slot.
Five of the six singles matches were straight-set victories for Carleton, while
Kiley Pickens picked up her team-high eighth singles win of the campaign and did so in a super tiebreaker at No. 4 singles, edging Sydney Alphabet 7-6 (7-3), 4-6, 1-0 (10-3).
Asfaw got back in the win column with a convincing 6-2, 6-2 result atop the singles lineup, and Nechiporuk added a 6-3, 6-1 victory at No. 2 singles. Shteyman prevailed at the third slot by a 6-1, 6-3 margin.
Witter and
Piper Brown both improved to 7-2 on the season with triumphs at the fifth and sixth slots, respectively. Witter notched a 6-4, 6-3 decision, while Brown secured a 6-4, 6-1 result.

Carleton returns to Minnesota to resume conference play. The Knights faced St. Catherine University on Sunday, March 30. That 4:00 p.m. match will be played at the Baseline Tennis Center in Minneapolis.
