MOORHEAD, Minn. – The Carleton College women's tennis team opened its 2026-27 slate with a 7-0 sweep of host Concordia College-Moorhead.
Kiley Pickens,
Ryann Witter,
Kat Smiricinschi, and
Gabriela Cilella each won in both singles and doubles.
Smiricinschi and Witter gave Carleton (1-0, 1-0 MIAC) the early lead in doubles with a 6-0 triumph atop the lineup. Pickens and Cilella followed with a 6-2 win at the second slot, matching the score posted by
Linden Wadsworth and
Varinn Sood at No. 3 doubles.
In solo play, Smiricinschi breezed to a 6-0, 6-0 victory at the fourth slot, while Witter and
Evelyn Hwang contributed 6-1, 6-0 wins at the second and fifth spots in the lineup.
Cilella added a 6-1, 6-1 result at No. 6 singles, while Pickens improved to 3-0 all time atop the singles lineup after her 6-2, 6-2 win.
Peggy Fu completed the sweep with her 6-2, 4-6, 1-0 (10-8) victory over Annalise Skrade at No. 3 singles.
Up Next for the Knights
Carleton will compete at the ITA Midwest Regional beginning on Friday, Sept. 25. That tournament is hosted by Gustavus Adolphus College.
