MANKATO, Minn. – The Carleton College women's track & field team finished seventh of 10 teams at the Maverick Premier #2 meet on Saturday. The field of competition included one NCAA Division I program, seven NCAA D-II squads, and one other D-III team.
Three Knights raced in the 60-meter dash, and both
Alice Islam (8.29) and
Michelle Musa (8.51) established new personal bests.
Bianca Lott also ran, clocking a time of 8.41.
Sophie McManus set a new PR in the mile run by more than eight seconds, crossing the line at 5:05.93 to finish fifth of 28 racers.
"She ran an aggressive race and put herself in great position from the start," said Carleton head coach
Donna Ricks.
Libby Rowland turned in a season-best time of 5:11.27 to finish seventh.
Aliya Larsen (5:16.69) and
Madeleine Reckmeyer (5:31.74) also raced in the event.
Lara Erickson was Carleton's top finisher in the 800-meter run, crossing the line in seventh place at 2:19.97, the fastest indoor time of her career at that distance.
McManus clocked a personal-best time of 2:23.60 to finish 10th of 23 entrants, putting her just ahead of Larsen (11th at 2:25.51) and
Celia Silverstein (12th at 2:26.00)
Lott (27.35) and Islam (27.51) both established new PRs for the 200-meter dash, while Musa covered the distance in 28.78.
Hannah Preisser,
Maggie Votruba, and
Cynthia Niaz competed in the 5,000-meter run. Preisser finished second with a nearly 8-second personal-best time of 17:00.01. That time bettered the previous meet record and currently ranks her 10th in Division III this season. Votruba had a season-best time of 20:00.79, and Niaz clocked in at 20:47.97.
Islam posted her third PR of the day when she cleared 1.51 meters in the high jump.

Carleton will head to the Tostrud Classic hosted by St. Olaf College on Friday, Feb. 21. That will the Knights' final tune-up for the upcoming MIAC Indoor Championships.
