NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The Carleton College women's swimming & diving team won eight events and earned a 157-137 victory over rival St Olaf College in a Senior Day dual meet at Thorpe Pool.
This was the last home dual meet of the season and the final home dual meet in the collegiate careers of the five seniors on the roster:
Caroline Crampton,
Jenna Drummond,
Abby Marks,
Jivana Nagpal, and
Isabelle Riley.
"What a way to end the dual meet portion of the season," said associate head coach
Brooke Plotz. "Wins for both the men and women, a packed house, and our Senior Day celebration increased the atmosphere at Thorpe Pool. We will continue to sharpen our skills and be ready for our final meets of the season."
"Thank you to the Class of 2025," Plotz said. "Your dedication, energy, silliness, cheering, support, and love will be missed next season. Come back and visit often; Once a Knight, always a Knight!"
The meet opened with the 1-meter diving competition, and the Knights set the early tone for the meet. First-year
Nina Schwab and sophomore
Hailey Westrup finished 1-2, posting scores of 291.25 and 256.20, respectively. Schwab's tally bettered the school and pool records she set seven days earlier.
Stephanie Baranov was the first Knight swimmer to win an event, covering the distance in the 1,000-yard freestyle in a personal-best 10:59.55.
Emma Yao was first to the wall in the 50-yard breaststroke, posting a personal-best time of 31.11.
Daya Tucker followed with a victory in the 50-yard freestyle after finishing at 25.70.
Zoe Morton won the 100-yard freestyle with a season-best time of 54.36, and
Aubrey Tran clocked a season-best time of 2:37.73 to win the 200-yard breaststroke.
Schwab and Westrup starred again on the 3-meter board as they posted the top two scores. Schwab's total of 329.25, smashed the previous 6-dive school and pool record of 317.10 established by Angie Soucek '02 in 2002. Westrup totaled 281.10 to set a new personal best.
Carleton capped the meet with a victory in the 200-yard freestyle relay as Yao, Tucker, Morton, and Baranov combined on a winning time of 1:42.48.
