MANKATO, Minn. –
Josh Meier had a pair of top-10 finishes and
Gabe Nichols was the runner up in the 1000-meter run as the Carleton College men's track & field team finished 12th of 20 teams at the Mark Schuck Open hosted by Minnesota State - Mankato. The field included a pair of NCAA Division I programs and six D-II squads.
Carleton finished the day with 11 top-20 results on the track:
•
Daniel Scheider and
Asher Nathan placed 16th and 19th, respectively in the 400-meter dash. Scheider crossed the line at a personal-best 52.98, while Nathan finished at 53.71.
• Meier took eighth in the 600-meter run with a season-best time of 1:24.25.
• With an indoor persona-best time of 2:03.26,
Emerson Lange finished in 13th place for the 800-meter run.
• Nichols was the runner up in the 1,000-meter run, clocking a time of 2:28.91 and taking more than five seconds off his previous personal best. He now ranks No. 2 on Carleton's all-time list and leads the MIAC this season by nearly five seconds.
• Meier placed fourth in the mile run at 4:25.52, trimming nearly 4.4 seconds off his previous personal best.
Travis Brown (4:33.05),
Ravi Achar (4:36.92), and
Nathaniel Malchow (4:41.63) also set collegiate bests as they finished in 10th, 13th, and 20th places, respectively.
• The 5,000-meter run saw
Torte Torstenson come across in eighth place at 16:08.36, while
Ryan Bernstein took 10th at 16:29.30, the second-fastest 5K time in his collegiate career.
