BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – Carleton College first-year
Claire Vukovics was selected as the MIAC Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week for Sept. 29-Oct. 5.
Claire Vukovics posted her first collegiate victory at the Blugold Invitational on 10/3, besting the 347-runner field with a time of 21:45.7. Her nine-second margin of victory gave Vukovics the second-fastest 6K time in the MIAC this fall.
With Vukovics leading the way, Carleton — despite racing without 2 of its top 3 runners — still finished fourth in the 36-team field that included four nationally-ranked NCAA Division III programs, four NCAA Division II tams, and two NCAA Division I squads.
Carleton next competes on Saturday, Oct. 18. The Knights will send their top runners to the Connecticut College Invitational, while the rest of the team will race that day at the Haunted Hustle on the Hill meet hosted by St. Olaf.
