NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The No. 16-ranked Carleton College women's cross country won its third competition in as many tries this season as the Knights beat three other nationally-ranked squads to sit atop the standings at the 16-team St. Olaf Invitational.
Carleton totaled 24 points to best No. 10 UW-La Crosse (57 points), No. 20 St. Olaf College (84 points), and No. 30 UW-Eau Claire (89 points).
Senior
Hannah Preisser and first-year
Claire Vukovics finished 1-2, crossing the line at 22:03.2 and 22:08.4, respectively. This was Preisser's second straight individual victory and the seventh of her collegiate cross country career. Vukovics has been top-3 at each of her first three collegiate competitions.
Carleton also saw top-10 results from rookie
Lauren Tittel (seventh at 22:58.4), senior
Aliya Larsen (eighth at 23:03.1), and first-year
Amelia Campbell (ninth at 23:03.7).
Two more first-years,
Louise Ruzanic and
Nicole Peterson were next across the line for the Knights. Ruzanic placed 17th at 23:32.0, while
Nicole Peterson was 40th at 23:54.7
Shemsy Lewis-Mussa,
Nora Daley, and
Nina Peterson were also among Carleton's top-10 runners on this day. Lewis-Mussa was 58th at 24:27.7, Daley took 59th at 24:28.5 in her season debut, and
Nina Peterson finished at 24:35.9 to take 64th.
