ELK RIVER, Minn. – The Carleton College men's golf team is currently in 3rd place out of 17 teams after the opening round of the Twin Cities Classic. Justin Rodriguez is tied for the lead after posting a two-under par 70. 

"The men played absolutely fantastic today," said Carleton head coach Sloan Wallgren. "The team is looking forward to day two at Northfork GC."

Nebraska Wesleyan finished the first round at the Elk River Country Club with a one-shot lead after posting a team score of 290 (+2). No. 16 Bethel University was second at 291 (+3) followed by the Knights who totaled 295 strokes (+7). No. 14 Saint John's finished with a score of 297 (+9) and in fourth place.
 
Rodriguez is tied with one other golfer for the lead after day one. He shot six birdies, including four consecutive birdies on holes 10 through 13. Rodriguez shot a 33 on the back nine, the lowest score of the day over nine holes.

Sam Higaki is tied for eleventh place in the field of 100 golfers. He carded a 73 (+1) with a round that included three birdies.

Gordon Walker is tied for 17th after shooting a 74 (+2). He shot a 34 on the back nine and had five birdies on the day.

Ryan Choi is currently tied for 49th place after shooting a 78 (+6) and Dillon Croco shot an 83 (+11).
