HASTINGS, Minn. – In the final tune-up before the conference tournament, the No. 16-ranked Carleton College women's golf program finished in a tie atop the leaderboard at the 12-team Gustie D3 Classic. The Knights placed three players inside the top-10.
Carleton posted a team score of 303 in the first round and a 305 for the second round, flipping the Saturday and Sunday scores posted by co-champion Bethel University. Third place went to Macalester College (622), followed by the St. Catherine "B" team (626) and Wartburg College (639).
Cynthia Lu led the way for the Knights, finishing as the tournament runner-up with a 36-hole score of 147 (+3, 73-74). That was two strokes better than teammate
Carter Sichol, who played her first tournament of the fall season and tied for third place at 149 (+5, 73-76).
Mindy Zhai finished in a tie for ninth at +9 (78-75=153), while
Anna Lee, playing as an individual, was 11th at 10-over par (74-80=154) for the weekend.
Sarah Zheng ended up in a tie for 25th place at +17 (79-82=161), while
Olivia Siebert tied for 29th (+19, 82-81=163) as an individual.
Natalie Tatar rounded out the lineup and tied for 39th (+21, 85-80=165).
Carissa Oberding of St. Scholastica was the medalist at +2 (76-70=146). She carded a 70 on Sunday, the lowest 18-hole score posted during the weekend.
