FARIBAULT, Minn. — The Carleton College women's golf team fired a final round 305 (+27) on Sunday at Legacy Golf Course to secure a dominant first-place finish at the Northfield Open.

The Knights posted a two-day total of 606 (+30), opening with a 301 on Saturday and following up with the 305 on Sunday to outpace runner-up St. Catherine University by 16 strokes.

Carleton's depth was on full display as every member of the scoring lineup finished within the top 15 of the 44-player field. Cynthia Lu captured the individual title, finishing at 4-over par for the tournament. After an opening-round 73, Lu carded a 75 on Sunday to finish one stroke ahead of teammate Carter Sichol, who took second place with a total of 149 (+5).

Sarah Zheng earned a share of fifth place, carding a 77 in the opening round and a 78 on Sunday for a total of 155.  Competing as an individual, Mindy Zhai also tied for fifth place after a strong second-day 76 brought her total to 155.

Anna Lee tied for eighth place with a two-day total of 156, highlighted by an opening-round 77 before finishing with a 79 on Sunday.  Natalie Tatar rounded out the scoring lineup in a tie for 12th place, recovering from an 82 on Saturday with a 77 on Sunday.

Kate Yi also competed as an individual, finishing in 21st place with a total score of 164 (81-83).

The Knights' victory marks a strong showing in local play as they bested a seven-team field that included conference rivals Gustavus Adolphus, St. Catherine, and St. Olaf.

Up Next for the Knights
Carleton will be back in action next weekend when it competes in the Spring Finale, the final tournament on the schedule before heading to the NCAA Division III Championships two weeks later.  Saturday's action will take place at Hastings Golf Club, while Sunday's final round will be played at The Jewel Golf Club in Lake City.
