NORMAL, Ill. — The No. 16-ranked Carleton College women's golf team concluded the Kathy Niepagen Spring Fling, hosted by Illinois Wesleyan University on Sunday afternoon, finishing in eighth place with a two-day total of 636 at Ironwood Golf Course.
The Knights opened the tournament with a strong first-round 304 but tough conditions during Sunday's final round raised scores across the board as Carleton posted a 332.
Carter Sichol led the Carleton lineup, finishing in a tie for 13th place. After an opening-round 73, Sichol carded an 82 on Sunday to finish with an 11-over-par 155.
Sarah Zheng finished just one stroke behind her teammate in a tie for 17th. Zheng followed her first-round 74 with an 82 in the finale, ending the weekend at 12-over-par 156.
Anna Lee earned a top-20 finish, placing in a tie for 20th. Lee recorded an 83 on Sunday to go with her opening 74, finishing at 13-over-par 157.
Rounding out the team scoring were Mindy Zhai and Cynthia Lu. Zhai finished in a tie for 65th after rounds of 84 and 85 (169), while Lu tied for 71st with a total of 171 following an 88 on Sunday.
Carleton also entered two individuals in the field. Kate Yi delivered the strongest final round for the Knights, carding a 5-over-par 77 to finish in a tie for 13th overall with a total of 155. Natalie Tatar finished in a tie for 52nd after an 81 on Sunday brought her tournament total to 166.
No. 6/7 Washington University in St. Louis captured the team title with a 607, while Julia Imai of UW-Stout and Grace Fagan of No. 21/21 Illinois Wesleyan shared medalist honors at 3-over-par 147.
